Anyone here had a Perforated eardrum?

My lil brother slapped me on the ear with a cupped palm and ruptured my eardrum. Has this happened to anyone before? How long did it take to heal? It doesn't really hurt but I can tell my hearing is subdued in my right ear and it feels stopped up. Also when I talk I can hear an echo like sound in my right ear. =/

How long ago did he slap you? After the rallies in my high school, I would be pretty much deaf afterwards, but after an hour, my hearing would clear up again.
Doubt he ruptured your eardrum.
But if you have really ruptured your eardrum, I'd say around 2-3 months. I had a tube on my eardrum for middle ear infection, and it took two-three months for it to heal after the tube was removed.

i had that happen....except i blew my nose too hard and popped a hole....lasted for about a week....had to visit a doc and get some persription though to assist it....it has a definate possibility of getting infected

Someone did that to my friend, and his mom poured alcohol into his ear. The whole opened up more, and he had to get surgery.

WTF is his mom dumb? that's major pain if the alcohol got into his middle ear, and possibly into his brain! :Q

I am no doctor, but I think I read somewhere that it does not heal naturally 🙁

It's not that bad, according to this place a ruptured or perforated eardrum usually heals by itself within 2 months.

One of the common causes:

If the ear is struck squarely with an open hand. -_-

I'm going to try and see a doctor tomorrow.

The timing couldn't have been better, I'm planning to go to several parties New Year's Eve... /sarcasm

I was going to say a couple weeks, but it seems you've already found your answer. I had perforated eardrums for a while when I was little, because I had the "tubes" in my ears removed (something to clear up the constant ear infections I had when I was young). Would have been a bit faster, except that I fell into a pool and got water in my ears before they completely healed - I was supposed to wear earplugs when I took a bath/shower or went swimming until they healed.
