I just got a ticket today driving on the freeway. I was by myself on the far left lane and some jerk merged into my lane nearly causing an accident. I had to swerve into the carpool lane and just my luck a cop was there. He was adamant on stating that he saw no one and wrote me up.

being the ridiculously poor college student I already am, I was wondering if there was anyway I could possibly fight this. Also, I recently attended traffic school for an Arizona speed trap violation about 4 months back, since this infraction is in California, is it possible to attend traffic school again or am I SOL. I'd definitely do that if I could over fighting this against this.

You're probably SOL on the traffic school, but if your story is true, I'd still take my chances with a judge. Be aware they've probably heard that excuse (or some variation of it) 30 times already that day however, so don't be surprised if you're found guilty.

Fight it. If you can get the cop to repeat that he didn't see the car or any other traffic, maybe that'll put doubt into the judge's mind since traffice was light, there'd be no reason to use the carpool lane.

The problem at court is that the judge 99.9% of the time believe the cop that is just the way it is, but you should try at least.
