I hear their engineering program is pretty good..so it's a path I'm looking to take.

So I was wondering exactly how hard it is to get in, and how you guys like it..

i was there for a semester.
as for how hard, i wouldn't say hard at all.
i am a CA resident, i'd say anyone w/ > 3.0 Hs gpa can get in. they are a state, not that hard..
housing will be huge prob, silicon valley, rent is SKY HIGH!! campus not that big...

So looking at this list http://housing.sjsu.edu/sv_rates.stm, it seems that the cost of living is very reasonable, or am I missing something?

that doesn't figure in food. that's just the rent for an apartment. if you want food/activities/interaction with lots of other students like you, then you live in the residence halls.

sjsu is more of a commuter school though. lot of people i know that go there are within like a 20 mile radius.
