I think a was a winner... but that was so long ago (>10yrs) I don't even remember exactly how that went. I remember there being limited prize $$$ and only the neediest winners actually got something other than a pat on the back.

Probably Rose Hulman since it's local and since there's no way I'd come near to having what I need to get into MIT.

Sorry but no, if you're talking about Northwestern in Evanston. I was a nat'l merit winner last year, I go to Northwestern now, I'm getting 2k a year for it. Other places do give more, some give less.

I'm probably going to try to hit up Denison, I hear that it's pretty good. Maybe UofI, too. If I feel INSANELY RICH I'm going to try northwestern.

I got just it 2 years ago. Got 2.5k I think. I actually applied for an Engineering scholarship at my University and I was turned down, but then when I talked to the guy and he found out I was a National Merit Finalist, he gave me the scholarship :| (heck, I didn't put it down because I thought it was worthless).

Yeah, I did.... 2 years ago.

It means nothing unless you manage to get the scholarship money. Basically all I got from it was something else to put on my college apps, a mention at an award presentation in high school, and a $20 Borders gift card from my principal (which I then used to go buy copies of Wired and Playboy).
