Anyone here from New Orleans???

I lived there for a year back in 1995/96 going to school as an exchange student. Stayed at 2 different locations and went to 2 High-Schools. I really miss it alot recently, had a great time over there.
New Orleans is really a great city with the people, French Quarters, the Mississippi and all.
If anyone is from there and feels like just talkning away, I'd really like to freshen up on my Cajun.

Yep, born and raised, and I actually am Cajun. The sad part is that my grandfather spoke nothing but French until he was in 3rd grade, and I don't know a word of Cajun French. Which high schools did you visit?

Hi Werk,

From August to just after new year's I was living in Houma and went to South Terrebonne High School. Didn't really get along with the old lady I lived with so I moved in with a very nice family in Cut Off. Can't remember the name of the school though.

As the name might imply, its a bit out side the city of New Orleans, about 30min if I remember correctly.
The good thing was, my host-sister was at college in the city and had her own apartement so I got to stay there during weekends. Got to see alot of the city during the day as well as the night. Mardi Gras was just crazy.

Yes, you were quite abit outside the city. Glad you had a good time! The Mardi Gras season is starting up right now, so I'm excited for the parades to start.

Yes I know. I have been thinking of going back there every Mardi Gras that has passed but have never had the money for it. Since I've been working now for 2yrs I am able though. Might go down there come summer. Hope thaty my boss can give me some time off.
It was just crazy in '96 when I experienced it. Beeds and "show your tits" and people in very "strange" clothing.

Houma and Cutoff, you were pretty far down, I was about an hour from you in Des Allemands. You had to pass through it to get to where you were. I lived there for about 10 yrs and graduated from Hahnville High School. Now I live in Reserve, La A small town in St. John The Baptist parish. About 35 mins from new orleans.
