I'm listening o the Joe Rogan podcast and he is going on about some observatory on the big island that is the most incredible thing he has ever seen, how awesome it is

I just read my op and I typed that wrong. I meant to say he said the view from this spot by human eye is the most amazing thing. He said it was something like 9000 feet above sea level

There's been lots of fuss made by the locals over the 30 inch being planned. They don't want it there.

Never seen the one you guys are talking about, but I have been near the Reagan "Star Wars" observatory on Haleakala on Maui. Very cool to see.

Probably. Haleakala's highest point is 10023 ft above sea level from the pics i posted above.

And Mauna Kea (where this observatory will be) is 14k, which is even more than that.

I flew over that one in a helicopter. Pretty wicked views.
