So, the unlocker is available. Good grief, after visiting PPCGeeks, my head is spinning. Any of you guys flash your roms with success?

Which one did you use? Any problems?

I have the AT&T version called the Tilt2. I just flashed mine a few days ago using Photon EnergyROM Standard - Build 23081.
Was it worthwhile? I'm kinda hoping to see an Android ROM released someday... the phone hardware is awesome.

Totally worthwhile. The phone seems more responsive. I got rid of all the AT&T bloatware, and I have more free memory. Prior to the flash, the phone was usually at 69-75% memory use, and now I'm at 55-63%. Plus, I like the look and feel. There are a couple bugs.... the My Location doesn't seem to update, and sometimes when I'm texting using the keyboard, there are some elements that don't refresh on the screen after closing. Nothing I can't live with.

Now if I would have bricked the phone....well that would be a different story...

Highly doubt we will see an Android flash of the Touch Pro 2, but I'm sure HTC will make an equivalent Android phone.

Touch Pro -> Dream/G1
Touch Diamond -> MyTouch/Hero/Droid Eris
HD2 -> Dragon/Passion

I also hope someone can port the Android ROM to a WM device! That'd be so sweet.

I have a Sprint Touch Pro. I regularly flash it with the latest and greatest Calkulin ROM. It's 110% worth going through the hassle of backing up your data, flashing, restoring your data, and reconfiguring your apps. I also upgraded my radio. Seems like the phone calls are dropped less frequently and the batter life has definitely improved.

I don't think HTC will ever release an _official_ ROM, certainly, but the community at XDA does some very impressive work sometimes. Heck, I saw an Android port to the Apache that was actually mostly working.

I'm not new to the phone flashing scene, just didn't know if the improvements were worthwhile vis a vis Rhodium. I imagine the next time I really give it thought will be if a WM7 or Android ROM pops up.

Yea I didn't mean an official ROM either, I meant an XDA ROM. I don't see it really being worth the effort when its likely there will be a phone with very similar hardware that runs Android natively. I don't recall any Android ports to the original Touch Pro or Diamond.

I unlocked my Sprint Touch Pro. 2 and installed MightyROM for it. I also unlocked its GSM radio and have a prepaid AT&T SIM card in there.

I flashed my Touch Pro 2 to Energy ROM "LEO" 23081. The software on this phone is excellent. It is running Windows Mobile 6.5 and has all of the enhancements from the leaked HTC Leo. It is certainly a huge step up from the stock Sprint ROM.

verizon wireless and flashed to mightyrom. i tried out a few others but stuck with mighty because of the speed and leanness of it. got it configured now the way i like it, custom background with weather animations, custom taskbar with numerical battery readout, tellme is working nicely, palringo is notifying me on the taskbar on chat messages, and tethering via ics or wifi is working like a gem. toughest part was taking the time to reload cabs/install programs. but id gladly do it again.

You haven't learned how to use the UC feature of Mighty's ROM? That makes reinstall of most of your cabs very easy and shortens the amount of time it takes to do so.

well a few of the tweaks were things like transparent slider and clear clock and other stuff that didnt quite work quite right with 6.5/manilla. guess he's working on an update; when he does ill probably utilize it to make my universe easier. of course its working pretty damn good, so i may not even tempt fate. mms works, blinking led for email doesnt bother me as thats the way i would've wanted it. but we'll see!

I am running a "cooked" ROM on my t-mobile version.

OS = 5.2.23081 (23081.5.3.0)
ROM = 25.OCT.2009 WWE

The only issue I have found is when texting and using the actual k.board the alt button / functions do not work but work fine in portrait mode ?

I have had mine for 2 weeks and not a freeze or crash yet with this setup.

I love the phone BTW,feels real solid and hefty,best keyboard ever and very manly....:D
