My go to lure is Gary Yahamoto Senkos 6inch, darker colors, with a nice sharp Gamakatsu 2/0 hook, texas rigged. (weightless, and weedless). Watch your line carefully while it's sinking, they'll hit it fairly often while it's going down. Keep it tight enough to see if something moves with it, but not too tight. As you retrieve it, do so slowly. If you've never fished with them before, and think you're going slow enough, you're going wayyyyy too fast. Slow down. Think: "how fast does a nightcrawler wriggle around?" Not much faster than that. You need a decent pole as well, as crappy zebcos just won't feel the "strike." Most of the bass just inhale the worm and don't run with them. They just kinda suck them in. If you have a good pole, you'll feel every rock and weed on the bottom. Every once in a while, you have to make the decision if that resistance is from it bumped up against a weed, or if it's in the mouth of a big bass. At the slightest bit of unusual resistance, give the line an inch or so of slack and watch it carefully. If it budges , count to 3 and set the hook. I catch a LOT of bass this way (and the occasional northern or other larger fish that hits the worm on the way down. It takes a lot of patience, and a lot of practice - after a while, you'll get better and better at detecting bass inhaling your worm.
