Hell raiser was based on hell bound heart I believe.

Read his books and stories. They're good. His movies are cheesey.

Hmm. Checked IMDB. Looks like he was only involved in the first Hellraiser, and then some other guys took over for the others. The third one was the one I found the funniest, that was the "Hell on Earth" on I think. I just remember a group of the Cenobites come to earth...a dance club of all places...and start killing people with music cd's and other goofy things.

I am looking for something really scary. Barker does not really cut it anymore. He used to be pretty extreme, but basically he is all about gore and S&M. The Ring was close to being scary, real close. So far nothing beats The Exorcist as far as all out scary goes and I think that's just because it's old and I saw it when I was younger.

EDIT: Scary movie list

Go into Toys R Us 10:00 AM on a Tuesday morning. Go to the action figure section. See the 43-year old guy with the goatee and pony tail? Him.

There is a whole "scene" for action figure collecting, it's scary. I (ironically) wanted the Comic Book Guy from the Simpsons action figure to put on my desk at work. I went into TRU at 10:00AM one day and that guy I described above was there. He saw me looking around and he asked me what I was looking for. When I told him he went on and on about how I will never find it, it's been out 6-months, bla bla bla. Scary.

I almost blew Mt. Dew Code Red out my nose when I read that. The "Him." part was great :D

Sure, when I was like 13.

But when I realized there really were no such things as vampires or space aliens or franklesteins or ghosts or hobgobblins or witches, it kinda through the whole 'believability' thing in the crapper. In order to be 'thrilled' or 'scared' by these movies, you have to on some level allow yourself to believe, by leaving your brain somewhere else, if only for the duration of the movie, that these things can happen. I have trouble with the 'leaving your brain elsewhere' part.

The first Hellraiser was scary and still is a good horror movie. I think that's it.

How is it scary? A bunch of people getting cut up is not horror is it trying to top the last slasher series.
