Anyone here familiar with silk screening?

How would I go about taking a picture and then transferring it to a silk screen template so that it can be used to make t-shirts? How expensive of a process is this? Anyone know? TIA

I had a whole bunch of shirts made up that said "The Matrix System Administrator" in white on a black tee. It cost about $7 per shirt which I thought was pretty damn cheap. They would have charged me a $20 fee to set the machine up if there would have been a four-color picture or graphic involved.

your talking picture quality on the t-shirt? That can get VERY expensive because of the details and colors that are involved, even if you can find a place around that does it. Also, how many t-shirts will it be? Many places have a minimum shirt order, otherwise they will charge you more. Also, the artwork itself is going to cost you. At the place I used to work...i would say you would probably be paying 50-60 bucks for that bad boy.

EDIT: Granted, that shirt cost is stand-alone. If you ordered in bulk, the price per shirt drops. However, the costs will still be higher than normal because of the picture.

I did it several years ago in Graphics. The screen we just drew on and cut....it's much like transparency stock so I'd imagine you could print on to it as well.

One color is pretty easy, hard to stop some bleeding though....multiple colors you have to line up to do well....this is a slow process, I am sure machines exist to automate it.

There are also printers that print on T-Shirts....that may be an easier solution.
