During this past year I moved from Winnipeg, MB to Kelowna, BC to find a new job.

I was not able to find a job and ended up moving back to Winnipeg.

Are my moving expenses tax deductible even if I didn't find a new job?

I live in Vancouver, don't know the answer to that, but I've emailed my accountant, so when he replies I'll let you know what he says :)

from the CRA website "you moved during the year and established a new home to start a new job or a business." Since you didn't actually start a job, I don't believe you can claim the expenses.

Is that new? I got my moving expenses deducted when I last moved within the same city for a cheaper apartment (new landlord raised my rent from $714 to $800) and there was no job or business involved. Nowhere was a reason for the move asked on the 2000 forms.
