Hey Guys,
I was looking at one recently for sale. Looks decent, not too bad of miles(100k :x). Anyone have any good/bad experiences with them? 🙂 The year was a 94

What are the specs of the 4 runner you are looking at
4 cyl or V6, 5 spd or auto, 4wd or 2wd?
There was a head gasket recall for the 3.0 V6 - Fortunately Dealer will fix this if it hasn't been fixed yet.
The toyota 4cyl is regarded as bullet-proof , but is underpowered for the 4runner
If the 4 cyl is the only option, make sure its a 5spd ( Auto 4 banger is horrendously slow)

If its 4wd, it has Great offroad capabilities - great platform to build off of for a trail rig too.
Just for reference the 3rd gen 4runner (1996-2002) has a bigger (better IMHO) 3.4L V6 SO if you can find a 96 in the same $$$ range, you might be better off
Toyota Trucks have a strong reliabilty record as wellas great resale value.

Even a 5speed/4 banger combo in the 2nd gen is going to be a pig. Figure the V6 only had 150 horsies and that wasn't exactly a speed demon either. Other then that they are pretty reliable. A friend at work has retired his 90 after more then 225k on the clock. Great truck that served him very well. Now has a 2002 Pathfinder he loves.
