Anyone here ever used UV paint?

I'm thinking of using UV paint to cover the globe of a floor lamp to give my office a retro/hippy kind of look. Is UV paint a good choice for that or will it stop the light from shining through?

I've never built a desk and consider my self pretty handy. Unless your good with that kind of thing it'll probably be a waste of lumber either that or will be damn ugly. thats just my thoughts though as far as UV paint I suppose alot of it would depend on the paint used..

I got a pretty good idea of what I want to do with the desk. In fact I'll take some pictures when I get completed. I just want to find something unusual to use for the base of the desk.
