Anyone here ever owned a Miata?

I am looking possibly at a used Miata. Heard good things and bad things about them. I am not looking at running all over kingdom come in it. It would be primarily for short little trips and errands.

I just need some info from anyone who has ever actually owned a miata and if they can tell me about in potential problems I could expect... or if it is a car that I should avoid altogether.

I haven't really heard too many bad things about miatas.. so far

They are little cars and would be great for gas/mileage and just some little running around

My brother has one and loves he. He even took it on a trip from WI to TX once. THey had the top down and got some really funky sunburn lines....

I owned a '96 Miata that I bought new.
I put 130k miles on it before I sold it to a friend.

Most fun car that I ever owned.

It was reliable as could be and I averaged about 27 or 28 mpg.
I still miss that car and would love to buy a new one or at least get a second generation car with low miles on it.

Are miatas pretty reliable even as a used vehicle? I know I have bought Toyota vehicles used and they were still pretty reliable... even Honda's were pretty reliable used.
