Thanks everyone!

for california, 52k is a bit low.

They came back with 54,100, but they keep pushing the 3 yearly bonuses. With the bonuses the total salary is about $60k. I'm just worried that since they are bonuses, they could be taken away at any time if the company is having a bad year. Apparently that hasn't happened any time in recent history though.

I had a phone interview but then we realized that somehow HR had mismatched me for the position and that was the end of it.

True, but going to grad school while working full time would be a pain in the ass...

There's pros and cons to both of couse...

I am making roughly the same , no stock options but there are some nice perks

this was fairly high compared to other people I graduated with but

I know a couple that went to northrup starting at around 65K and another that was offered 60K working for verizon

you have to consider that having INTEL on your resume is going to count for a whole lot though

so if it is a job that you think you will enjoy than I would definitely take it

they may also pay for additional schooling as well so you should look into that

it seems like the salary should be higher but if fulsom is an inexpensive place to live than this may be a good move

Thanks for starting this thread. I'm going to bump it up :)

I'm a lazy graduate student who started applying for jobs only recently. I applied for an Intel job on Thursday. They called me up on Friday to schedule an interview on Monday. I guess I did ok on the interview because someone else called me up 2 hours later to schedule an on-site interview on Friday. However, I can't make it then since I'm in the process of moving and graduating. They said that they'd call me back, but it seems that they were bringing in a group of people on Friday.

Does anyone know how their hiring thing goes? Do they only bring people in blocks? I'm hoping that they'll call me back up later instead of discarding my application.

Yeah...i was (sorta am) in the same boat as you. I applied to about 9 engineering grad schools. got in like 3 of them. rejected from 4...1 STILL needs to answer back...and 1 says they cant fund me yet. I wasnt getting any aid from any. so i accpeted this job offer, and then they came back and offered me a fellowship....full ride + monthly stipend. I got that deferred till next semester. So im working right now...prolly gonna go join that grad school next semester.

so i would say, depending on your position, i would go consider going to grad school if they pay for it. If not, get it deferred if its something you wanna do. One of the biggest pros is your starting salary WILL increase a lot if you have a master's degree. i cant see them giving you any less than 70k...but u invest 2 two years in studying. one option is that if you really like intel, get deferred from couple of colleges, then work for ayear and build up a good relationship with intel, and u can always count on them considering u as a priority later on.

btw, grad school is Texas (austin) and working at ibm right now in NC.

I already accepted a TA position (tuition waiver and stipend) at UMich. Base salary for a BS with no experience at Intel is $52k. I had prior internship experience so they offered me $54k. The annual bonuses pushed it up to about $60k. A MSEE with no experience starts at $60k, so factor in the experience and bonuses and ideally it would be maybe $67k? I don't know, I don't have the notes I took over the phone with me right now, but I remember the starting salaries and what their final offer to me was. PhD's start at $77k + bonuses.

I had a phone interview and then a face to face but it was not for anything related to EE. It was for a position running on of their fab shifts in their Oregon factories. I ended up telling them I was not interested because of the commute (I live in Seattle and don't want to move) and I was pretty sure I would not get it anyway.

My good friend had a phone interview that led right into a job. He was a ME and so was working on cooling for one of their new (at the time) chips

Awesome! I just read the questions they asked... and I was able to answer about 80% of them, and I'm not even done second year CompE, heh, at least it gives me some faith in my schooling!
