Anyone here ever had Directv installed on 3rd floor or higher apartment?

Hi, I am planning a move in the next couple of months and I will be living in a third floor apartment. I want to install Directv in my apartment and was wondering if any of you had done this before. I have no balcony so that is not an option. I was thinking of using the existing wiring that goes from the cable jacks, I am just not sure where they originate outside at ground level. More thatn likely the dish will be mounted near the ground and I will have to find the cable that feeds my apartment and tap into that. Any ideas? Thanks

If you're building lets you install it, then I'm sure the installer will solve all of those problems for you.

the reason that I ask is that I already have directv and want to hookup my own stuff when I get to the apartment. The free standard installs that are available when you move require an additional 1 year contract which I do not want to do, b/c I might be cable internet and tv bundled package in a couple of months.

What I trying to ask is where do you guys think the distribution point at ground level would be that feeds the upper level apartments. This would be the same one that feeds the cable tv signal into the apartment if cable is installed, I assume. Anyone have any pics of such a distribution panel?

TIA

Usually these distribution panels are locked because there are blockers preventing a cable TV signal from going through. And once that blocker is removed a cable TV signal comes through the cable line to the designated apartment since all are on by default. It is doubtful that your apartment complex will let you tap into their box although I guess it wouldn't hurt to ask.

in related cable news, i noticed tonite that i started getting Skinemax for free all of a sudden. free trial?
