anyone here ever had an interview with Microsoft..?

Going out to Seattle at the end of the week for another interview for an Intern Software Design Engineer position. Just wondering if anyone here has had a second round interview with Microsoft, and if so what kind of things did they ask you? What kind of experience was it? Is it worth renting a car, or should I just taxi it?

Expect to be placed in a room with a laptop that has 15 minutes battery life left, and being told to fix a bug in some undocumented code and save it...

Good luck!

ive heard rumors such as this, but do you confirm or is is just something you heard?

I have a friend that interviewed there and got a job. From what he told me, they put you through six consecutive interviews, all with pretty tough questions; if you make it to the sixth interview odds are you will be hired. I've never heard anything about the this laptop story, sounds like hearsay to me.

i was under the impression you'll go through all the interviews, regardless. and you're evaluated in your overall performance throughout the course of the interviews

What position? Are we talking marketing or engineering or?

sorry, i'll add that to the post. The position is for Intern Software Design Engineer

I worked for MS a few years ago. I had a rather non-standard interview in that I was a contractor for over a year before becoming an FTE, so they already knew me well.

My interview consisted of me going in to my managers office and him scaring the piss out of me for a few minutes until he finally busted out laughing and said, "I was just messing with you, man. Fvck you, you're hired."

My interview to be a contractor wasn't too different than anything I'd had at any other job, although I would imagine each group there does things a little differently.

As for a rental car, it depends on what you want to do after the interview and where you're staying.

I've been told that if you're not making it, they give you some BS excuse and let you out. My friend told me that the cab driver that brought him back from MS campus to the airport told him he was probably hired based on who he interviewed with 🙂

Good luck!

If you only make it through 3 interviews, you're not going to get an offer.

I didn't get any brain teasers with mine. I was interviewing for PM though.
