Anyone here ever had a pinched nerve?

Not sure what I did to my back, but the doctor says I pinched a nerve which goes to my right leg. I have never expienced such pain before. I have to take 2 tylenal 3 ever 2.5 hours or I cannot even walk.

Is this normal for a nerve pinch to hurt this bad? Has ANYONE here ever expienced this before?

Thanks! I appricate any replys.

Friend of mine recently screwed his back wrestling. Not sure if it is a herniated disc (I call him hernia-boy now), or a pinched nerve or whatever. He has abstained from all physical activity until he figures it out but he is seeing a pysiotherapist now...

I once pinched a nerve in my back while playing football in high school. I was paralyzed from the hips down for 2 days. It was the worst feeling I had ever experienced. Ever since I did it I have had back problems on and off so I have to be very careful not to over

i have one now.... i have had it for the last 3 years and i cant lift my arms every few days
its in my shoulder and it sucks... i need a doctor but i have no insurance because my father is egyptian and we dont give a damn. but even if we did have insurance, i'm not gay, so i wouldnt go running to some doctor guy

I hurt my back logging up in NH... like you, pain shot down through the leg. You find that your leg is 'lazy' as you walk, and at times you can't get out of bed. If you did slip a disc, try to rest until the pain is bearable and then excercise.

The more active you are, the better the back will feel. Just don't push it (like doing push-ups using poor technique). I found that play basketball or soccer daily made my back feel good, so much so that I stopped taking pain-killers altogether. When I am complacent, back pain comes creeping back in.

Of course, the road to recovery is slow (around 5 years). But keep at and don't stop exercising to 'wait for complete recovery.' Won't work.

I have a pinched nerve on my elbow right now.
It doesn't hurt, but it makes my arm feel numb.
I went to occupational therapy but it didn't help. 😕

Yep - I pinched the sciatic nerve in my back several months ago and didn't get it treated right away so I was having huge muscle spasms by the time I went to see the doctor. I was literally flat on my back for two weeks, doped up on prescription strength Aleve and when needed, some codeine. I couldn't sit for more than a few minutes without pain shooting down my right hip and leg, and I still have to sleep on my back or it gives me a little twinge now and then. I could barely walk and couldn't drive unless it was right after the meds took effect.

On the plus side, I got a fancy new office chair with lumbar support and a gliding footrest for under my desk, so it isn't so bad now. 😉

Wow guys, thanks for the replies!

rmeijer, thanks for those tips, I will definatly keep that in mind!

Right now Iam hopeing the pain is at its worst. T3 seems to kill the pain thankfully. The doctor recommended advil also which is supposed to help fix the problem.

And like you guys are saying, yes, my leg is totally lazy, it feels numb, like its asleep, and its kinda prickly. Its sure funny how much my leg can hurt, and its my back's problem. 🙂

listen, i am medical student. and i will still continue to show my body who the man is.

i can't win no matter what, so i might as well make sure by body doesn't win either and i'll take us both down straight to hell

jcballer1, you will fail as a Doctor if you make it that far. By fail I mean that you will not be a true healer, that takes compassion.

I went through this when I was 25. I had two back surgeries to correct the problem. I was the youngest for these operations that most had ever seen. I know because I drug my IV carriers down to the courtyard at the hospital to smoke and all the nurses were talking about it. Docs told me I could do no more than 30 sedintary hours work a week for the rest of my life. Well, as you all know, that doesn't pay the bills. Yesterday I put in a 23 hour shift, most of it hard at it. You do what you have to do to get through the day. Sometimes it gets so bad I can't walk, then I seek drugs. Buttheads like jcballer1 would deny that. Major problem with our healthcare system.

Strangely enough i did something to my neck yesterday. Basically as i went to sit at my computer i must have tweaked it. I have had restricted movement since, although it is slightly better. I am giving it a couple more days, otherwise i will be off to a chiropracter.
