Looking to buy a cheap car to hopefully last me 3 or 4 years...

Came across one with a rebuilt title....the car has 80k miles on it...97 Caddy Catera.

I carfaxed it and it came back that at about 60k miles in 2002 it was flooded and issued a rebuilt title because of flood damage. I haven't gone to look at the car yet....the dealer selling it says that it's in excellent condition and that there is no way of telling that it has a rebuilt title.

Anyone here have any experience or know someone who may have bought a vehicle with a rebuilt title?

I bought one, but it was a very cheap car. It was good to me. Keep in mind that no dealership will give you a trade in and they sell for significally less. Depending on the model and price I would say go for it. Of course if you pay cheap for it. And I mean thousands less.

My car was a flood car. No big deal, no major problems with the electrical system.

Don't buy a flooded car. You'll going to have electrical problems when the electrical system become corroded. If you planning to keep the car for 3 or 4 years, why not speed a little more for clean title low mileage car. It'll cheaper in the long run.

thanks for the replies peeps...

I'm just going to run down and check the car out...

main reason I'm considering it is because it's cheap...97 Caddy Catera for about $3,200... I have a few other cars to look at too...I never make a drastic decision on purchases...no worries.

So even if the car looks good...rides good and smells good :) I still should worry about electrical problems later on? If I really like the car I planned on taking a certifies mechanic to check it out...
