How has your luck been in purchasing, and where did you purchase from?

Looking @ some sights the prices are all uniform.
Unless I get a real world view from someone I don't think I could buy one.

Depending on the watch, some of them have a decent quality movement in them. You'll pay more for these though: A few hundred bucks versus potentially thousands.

I would never buy a replica, but that's my opinion. If you can't afford the real thing, get a reasonable alternative and wait until you can.

I think its John Dvorak who says he likes to buy the replica watches. He says that the better made ones are just as good as the originals at a huge fraction of the cost and even include some superior color schemes.

I haven no personal experience.

I have had two fake rolex watches.

One I bought on the street in Toronto for ~$15. It was very obviously a fake (very lightweight and cheap feeling) and it broke after about 6 months.

The second one was a gift from my brother in law from when he lived in Hong Kong. He bought what he said was one of the better fakes, and in fact it did seem more like a real one, but it also stopped working after about 1 1/2 years.

The Korean made ones are exact replicas and sometimes have even better reputation. They are pretty damn expensive though ($1k+).

Bought one in Hong Kong. $45, spent way to much, could have got the same watch for $27 in Vietnam.

Still works, but is showing some wear now.

I bought a fake Rolex from a super shady streetsman back in 11th during my class trip to Washington D.C.

It died before the week was over.

have a neighbor that sells fake Rolexes, I thought I was interested in one until he showed the one he suggested I get. It was $1,500 for a FAKE! lol. But the watch was a spot on replica (according to him) the second hand moved just like a Rolex and it felt very nice on my wrist.

Now I know the legit Rolex this was modeled after costs close to $20k, but who the hell is gonna spend $1,500 on a replica? lol

It depends on how you define replica.

I have an Invicta 8926 which is a very nice watch for $100. It looks exactly like a Rolex Submariner - so much so that the version I have is no longer made due to a lawsuit.

8926

I also have a Precista 300M which is an "homage" to the venerable military issues Omega SM300.

300M

Both are nice watches and I plan to buy more Precistas in the future.

I got a cheap Rolex in St Maarten. It was suprisingly nice for 10 bucks. Up until I got myself a Fossil it was the nicest watch I've ever had.

Yeah, I use to get fake Rolex's in Manhatten down around china town/SoHo.

Shop around, some look crappy while others look very good.

Mine have all lasted quite a while.

I always paid about $15, but that was about 10 yrs ago.

There are fake Rolexes out there that are so good even the jeweler can't tell. Reason?
Cases are true stainless
Dial and bezel are genuine with true saphire crystal.
Bands are normally stainless / solid gold.
Weight in same
Sweep second hand which used to be a dead give away.

Look up Swiss made grade 1 Rolex replica. They cost anywhere from $650 to over $1000

I'd look you guys up some links but I can't open much, thanks to company internet policy.

Boomer, did you have to sacrifice a kitten to bring this thread back from the dead?

I almost bought one, but realized it's 2019 and the only people that wear analog watches are douchebags trying to show off.
