anyone here eats protein powder?

Yes, I eat it straight out of the container, yum.

But to anyone who thinks protein powder has to be bad, try an optimum nutrition chocolate brand. It tastes like a chocolate milkshake.

Yeah, chocolate is the ******.
Can't imagine putting it right in my mouth though, heck even drinking from a glass rather than a shaker is pretty nasty with all the lumps that tend to form in it, just "eating" it must be like ten times worse...

Vanilla tastes like utter crap btw.

hey, i got the strawberry one. 5lbs 🙂

Vanilla one is good with soy milk. I personally add soy milk, peanut butter, and nesquick chocolate milk powder mix.
Extra protein from soy milk and peanut butter, and you get some carbs from all 3. Grated they are simple sugar carbs, but it's better than nothing.

i've been doing that a lot lately... just put a scoop of powder in my mouth and drink some water...
I bet it would be more effective if you mixed it with water it.

Ewww....

I eat at least one Optimum Nutrition Chocolate shake a day, usually 2, and I could not imagine eating that crap dry.

so you blend everything in a blender? can't really shake the peanut butter in the shaker...

I drink a soy/protein powder and mix it with a glass of milk, taste pretty good. I like it. I know I don't get enough protein. So, that works for me.

I have a half emptied bottle of the "Designer Whey" vanilla protein powder. Tastes like crap and doesn't mix well 🙁 I think I'll either try chocolate next time or just stick with high protein foods like beef and salmon 🙂

One day recently I was getting ready to mix a shaker full of the ON vanilla protein. My boss, who just happened to be standing there, suggested that I use the coffee maker's hot water spigot because he thought hot water might make it taste better.

It didn't.

As it turns out, extremely hot water makes protein powder congeal into a clumpy, rubbery substance. Since I really needed the protein, I choked it down anyway.

Yup, my mom bought a few of those "magic bullets" after she saw them on the infomercials.
Pretty handy for these shakes. It takes about a minute to make one, and the cleanup takes seconds. Two minute meal replacement 🙂

for those consuming whey/protein supplements, it's most likely from you working out and trying to put on some mass. i sugguest that along with the whey/protein, you take L-Glutamine with it as it helps your body absorb the protein better cuz what your body doesn't take, it goes to waste. just a food for thought 😉

Also, if you are indeed into lifting weights/body building, i'll also suggest taking creatine supplements as well. make sure you research this kinda stuff though cuz you need to cycle it right, and determining what cycle will work for you, depends on your body. there are also products such as endocre3 that will help your body absord creatine better rather than urinating most of it. taking supplements is all about combination to make the most use out of them.

oh and another thing, it seems that some people are just scooping this stuff in your mouth; that will not help you make efficient use out of the supplements. the reason why it suggests that you take the supplement with a certain amount of water is because the water is what helps it flow through your body and absorb the stuff you're taking. spooning this stuff to get it out of the way quick might help reduce the bad taste, but it will not help with the purpose of taking them.

I think eating protein with healthy carbs and fats can help absorption too.

why don't you eat hard boiled eggs without the yellow? if you're exercising anyway, I don't see how that's not cheaper, easier and just as effective....
