Anyone here do volunteer work?

I think I would really enjoy helping disadvantaged children. So I think tomorrow I will start being serious about finding my cause😉

Anyone here do anything like that? Care to share?

TIA boys!

I've done volunteer work, and while I know children need assistance and what not; I find the most rewarding work is helping out in local "soup kitchens." You will meet some of the most talented/smart/gracious people ever IMO 🙂

i've been working with a group called I Have a Dream for the past year and a half...the youth are not really 'disadvantaged', but most of the kids have been labeled at-risk

i specifically work with high school aged students, tutoring them, working on homework, and just hanging out with them. it's actually a lot of fun, and i find myself looking forward to it every week

I do more than my share of volunteer work, but it's all in accordance with my LEO status.

You dont count silly because of your position. All law officers do volunteer work, whether or not they are on active patrol.
I am not an officer of course, but I can imagine what you guys deal with and go through everyday. Surely some of it is straight up volunteering your time and effort🙂

You know I love ya Big B

I am not helpful around here at all. I see myself as the girl who watches th e game with an occasional shout out, comment, and once in a great while, a great thread🙂

I could mention that with the FOP I helped take underprivileged kids out Christmas shopping and then we had a pizza party and wrapped the presents for them. There might be something like that you could help out with.

I found it to be very rewarding on a personal level. 🙂

I've already decided that when I retire I'm going to feed sick people in a hospital or nursing home. It breaks my heart to see pts who are really hungry but no one has taken the time to feed them.

I was a scout leader for a few years. Now I just take care of my own kids. The wife volunteers at her church though. It's about all the work she can handle.
