Looking to get my dad a present (birthday) and he's always wanted to build a model of a F4U-1D Corsair..

Just wondering what brands/specific model kit would be good to build from?

I'm not so sure about scale, don't know much about model airplaces. :[

I sued to biuld model airplanes, but not lately. occasionally I'll build a car. My favorite airplaes were about 6 feet wide and gas powered w/ radio gear in them, though. But, if you just want a 1/48 scale plastic kit, try this: F4U-N5

don't know if you can find a 1D

I used to build em when I was in highschool. Hmm... I should get back into it...

If he's always wanted to build that plane, then he's gonna want it looking good. You'll probably have to get a high skill level kit with at least a couple hundred peices for realism. THat, and he'll need a paint set so that he can paint the parts BEFORE putting them together for the highest level of accuracy.

Of course, that'll require some experience to do correctly, so you might wnana get him a lower level kit or maybe just a high quality prebuilt model of the airplane.

if you want a flying one i'd suggest the top-flite model. pretty easy to put together, well thought out, that sorta thing. though i wouldn't suggest one for someone who never flew a model plane before, as that would be an easy way to re-kit the plane.
