Using drive image 4,5, or 6? and wondering why it's so slow in dos? I've found something that will make your hd fly in dos, just as fast as it is in windows.
http://usa.asus.com/download/mbdriver/mb-ide.htm
scroll down to where it say k7m-ide.zip, unzip this and find a file called viaide.sys, add this to your win9x boot disk. add to config.sys, " device=viaide.sys"
Because via does not have busmaster enabled in dos it will be very slow such as 4-5mb/sec or pio mode 1-2 which is too slow for anything.
makesure to run smartdrv.exe and use something like this: smartdrv.exe /e:16384 /b:16384 16384 in autoexec.bat
If this is too complicated for you, probably you were not around during the dos day
Dos is here to stay for emergency purpose as it is for low level programming
FYI, drive image 4.0 can only be used with Fat32 and 5.0, 6.0 can be used with NTFS

Another good reason to switch to Acronis True Image, and/or avoid via chipsets :)

Nice tip for those with via chipsets, though you might put via in the title or summary for those of us with intel, nforce or sis.
