Looks like I might be attending a conference in PR this October for a week. I was thinking about having the woman tag-along with me and maybe hang out for a few extra vacation days.

Any reviews or recommendations?

My co-worker lived there for 6 months. He says that aside from the resorty tourist-oriented areas, it's nothing but a huge ghetto trash dump with roaming stray dogs.

are you going to be close to San Juan? where in PR will you be staying? PR has some really nice beaches and everything outside of San Juan is really cheap

I'll be in San Juan at the El San Juan Hotel & Casino.

I was born in PR and lived there for a long time, as well as having gone back many times. Id be glad to help out with any questions as well as suggest many places you could stay, and what you could do...from rivers and lakes, mountains, beaches, horses and cars, buildings and people. PM and Ill help you out as best I can.

PR is just like any other country to the south of America. If you are American, you are a target.

wow you are ignorant in more ways than one.
-Puerto Ricans are Americans
-Ive been to Mexico twice, Aruba once, Bahamas twice. Never was I targeted.

Not the most flashy place as Goob pointed out, but there are some wonderful sites in PR. We hit the Fort in Old San Juan and the huge radio telescope Text and also a local cave tour. Drove across pretty much the whole terriitory. Make sure you stop and eat at one of the local huts on the side of the road. That was some of the best food we ate while visiting.

Enjoy it. Very poor country, but you will be in a tourist area. Friggin traffic is horrible. Natives are pretty cool, most depend on you visiting anyway. Keep the woman at home and find a Boriqua temporary gfriend whilst there.
