I've been thinking more and more about this recently. I feel that I'm incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunities and resources that have helped me become who I am. Every day when I manage my team I can't help but feel good that I'm helping these people earn a living. But every day I'm dismayed that I'm not doing more and that I'm not affecting more people and more worthy causes.
There's not a day that goes by when I don't think about this.
Having tasted starting and growing my own business, I see that business has a tremendous ability to affect positive change and provide opportunities to those who are willing to work hard or smart to better themselves and their community. And business is a renewable cycle by constantly creating enough resources for it to keep going. Business provides customers value, business earns resources, re-invests it in people, the community, and the environment. Owner earns a profit in order to keep going. Positive cycle. I just need a place to start.
I'm not really sure where I'm going with this. I think I'm just trying to find some kind of direction. A lead, so to speak. There are just so many opportunities today to leverage technology, purchasing power, and the global community for the greater good that I can't ignore it.
At the end of my life I'll probably be dust anyway. The last thing I want to do is make a lot of money and just spend it on myself. Fuck that.
