Anyone here a manager

It seems like a lot of people here complain like "My boss doesnt know sh1t" or something like that. I was wondering how many people here are the bosses? How do you treat your employees? Are they sufficiently geeky? How did you get to where you are?

i WAS a manager at a bar before i got my network admin job...i treated my staff the way I liked to be treated when i was working. It was a bar though so it's pretty hard not to have fun in that kind of environment...especially when you got all sorts of fine @$$ who you get to work with....😀

My dad is a manager at a hotel...from what ive seen he knows his stuff and the employees always messup then he comes and fixes stuff...

I am a manager.

I started at a small company, worked my way to a Fortune 500 in 6 years, then a manager position within same company 2 years later. It helped that I got my CPA license during that time and did the time and work to get noticed.

edit: oh, and me and my accounting staff are not geeky, just anal. 😀

I'm a manager at a retail kiosk but I only manage two people and out of those two people I'm not a dick to either. I think the main reason why people hate their managers is because they don't understand and know how hard it is to be a manager or higher up in management. It's not as easy as being a regular retail clerk and what not.

seems that it's always "I am the manager and my employess screw up, then I go fix things"
or "My boss screws up and then makes me save his a$$"

awesome
