Anyone heard of Thomas Hardy's Ale?

I scored some Hardy's Ale today along with a few others:

Westmalle Tripel
Rochefort 8, 10
La Fin Du Monde

I recommend you try Hardy's if you can... it's pretty hard to find. This is the '03 vintage, but if you can score some that has been cellared a few years you are in a privileged position.

I can't contribute to the discussion, but it's nice to see you. 🙂

Recently I buy the swill that's cheapest but still drinkable at Costco for beer. Moosehead, Stella Artois, Paulaner Weiss...
I've been on a mixed drink kick this summer which include several weeks experimenting with the following...

Manhattans
Margaritas
Tequila Sunrises
Vodka Martinis
Vodka Gimlets...

I've taken a break from my friend Gin, so I'll be happier when I meet him next.

You as well!

I'm typically not much of a mixed drink fan, and I know very little about them; however, I do favor Snakebite shots and Kamikaze drinks (not the shot).

Fruity beers are a no no. Besides what kind of beer comes in a 8.5 ounce bottle.

This isn't a fruit beer. You must not have had many beers to suggest that fruity notes are a "no no."

Who cares?

I was mostly joking with you.

I looked up some reviews on that beer, and all the comments were about it's fruity-ness. While, it is true, I don't care too much for fruity beers, there really is no such thing as a bad beer in my book 😀 I will have to try one if I can find one. I like dark ales myself, and someone else on ATOT suggested Arrogant Bastard, and it has become my second favorite beer, although I suspect they ripped it off from McMennamins, or vice versa, as it is VERY similiar to one of their beers.

I like Thomas Hardy, but honestly I prefer the American barleywines (e.g., Bigfoot or Old Crustacean), which are a little more drinkable - more like an IPA on steroids. I'm not generally a fan of Belgians, but haven't tried the Rochefort.
