Anyone heard of the Irate Gamer?

You can type in something like Irate Gamer Angry Video Game Nerd on You Tube and find allot of people pissed at him.

Some of his videos were good, then he just started using lines which I kinda shrugged off at first but as more videos I watched more similarities appeared. Such as the spell check thing the AVGN did in the GhostBusters game review on NES. The Irate Gamer did with Ghost n Goblins on NES. To name a few things similar.

Also some of the Irate Gamers facts seem off on certain reviews.

What's your opinion / view on this?

Irate gamer is a huge ripoff of the AVGN.

1st of all this guy(Irate gamer) is not even funny. He reminds me of some dork that has no people skills. He is monotone and just plain lame. Even the "original"(i.e. not stolen) stuff he does it terrible.

2nd. No one will ever be better then the AVGN. This guy rocks. He is the original, and no one will ever top him.

Real sad thing is.... He has never even mentioned the AVGN as any type of inspiration on his work.

He appeared on some radio show and got attacked, however the hosts were real douche bags. After the interview, they called all people who review games to be "fags" and "losers" and such. So the hosts were just assholes, but did jab the Irate Gamer during the interview. He said something like how original he is. Right....

Goto like YouTube or Google and type in Irate Gamer interview.

Still the Irate Gamer should at least respond to all the flak people are giving him.

I guess he is known to filter YouTube comments and such. Odd....

I remember James Rolfe saying he doesn't really bother with his imitators. The Nerd has become his bread and butter but it's not his primary work. His major focus being cinematography. Besides, none of the clones will reach the level of success as he has. Rolfe has been on two nationally syndicated TV/Radio shows, G4, Spike, and MTV. He also has his own web series on Spike where he reviews movies. I just heard of the Irate Gamer today. I've seen some of the Nostalgia Critic videos. He's kind of like the AVGN of movies.

What a stupid asshole. This is the price we pay for cheap bandwidth - no incentive to make anything efficient.

I think IG's best videos are the Contra videos. They really showcase what a useless sack of shit he is.

Rolfe has two other guys helping him. Mike Matei does most of the camera work, the title artwork, and plays the AVGN's "special guests". Kyle Justin does his theme song. Rolfe produces, writes, and edits the show. Originally though he did everything by himself. The early Nerd vids are pretty gonzo. I remember first hearing his vids on Opie & Anthony and I've been hooked ever since.

It's hard not to admit that the Irate Gamer is directly copying Rolfe. The cinematic style, character, and even the set of IG are identical to the AVGN's. Some of the comments on his vids are funny. Arguments between his fans and the "haters". If Rolfe himself doesn't care though, there's no problem. However, if you're going to create a show, at least TRY to do something original. I'm looking at you Seth McFarlane. :laugh:

I have gotten bored with his AVGN's reviews. You can only review so many bad games before the world-play/jokes become boring and repetitive.

IG and AVGN have both spread out quite a bit in terms of what they cover. IG has started doing shitty movie reviews and AVGN does movie reviews for Spike.com
