Has anyone heard of the adware Common Name? It seems to be some sort of search feature, but I can't get rid of this program. When trying to uninstall it, it reloads other adware programs.

Thanks,

Mike

I've run adaware, but it can't delete the folder because it says it is being used by some other program. I couldn't delete because of the same problem. When you try to uninstall it, it sends you to its website and tells you to download the uninstaller, which reinstalls a zillion other programs that messes up your computer. This thing SUCKS.

Thanks,

Mike

Try deleting it while in safe mode and unconnected to the Internet. If you feel comfortable enough you could try finding it in the registry and removing it from there, just back it up first. Oh also see if it's running as a process from Ctrl-Alt-Del and shut it down manually.

A friend of mine had one of those types that wouldn't delete and killed his Internet access. After hours on google I finally found someone with the same problem and had to manually delete each file & registry entry because neither Ad-Aware or Spybot would.

Log into safe mode as administrator... delete the folder there. Then manually go in and remove the registry keys.

If you cant delete the registry keys...

Start >> Run >> Regedt32...

assign yourself ownership of the key in question and all sub keys below that, once you have ownership of all the files delete the reg key then. log into windows normally, run adaware and spybot again. Turn on spybot immunizations at this point to prevent installation of the application again.
