Anyone heard about A1 GP?

Yeah its actually an pretty intense racing series.

Intense because half the field (well one third) are experienced drivers while the rest are youngins who have very little experience (in high powered open-wheelers) but in most cases, lots of talent. And they try to show it at every corner and on every pass, successful or not. This makes it a very entertaining series to watch. The best part will be seeing which drivers improve over the course of the season.

It's also good because there aren't any driver aids, and they have full slick tires and hte focus on mechanical grip as opposed to aerodynamic grip.

Fun stuff. Unfortunately it doesn't show on the OLN network in Canada. 🙁

Did you see the Top Gear episode with Nigel Mansell as 'the guest in a reasonable priced car'? There was a F1 looking car in the studio that he raced. Was that an A1 car?

No that was the GP Masters car which is similar to the older ChampCars I believe. Its based of the Reynard chassis.

Nigel Mansell, Emerson Fittipaldi, Rene Arnoux, among other F1 greats from the 70s & 80s entered a race called GP Masters which pits the older F1 stars against each other in identical cars. This year they only had one race, but next year they are planning to have an entire season (hopefully with Alain Prost competing as well!).

One of the rules of the GP Masters series is that you have to be over 40 to complete. It's pretty cool to see these older guys race in high powered open-wheelers! You definately need a lot of stamina and good health to do that!

That was a GP Masters car... where all the old farts go racing. 😀

A1 GP has an olympic feel to it since countries are represented. There was talk of Half Schumacher and Michael Schumacher was going to race for Germany during the offseason.

I'm just happy Team Brazil is 3rd. 😀 I think NP Jr opens his mouth too much. :frown:

hahaha did you hear what Rubino said about NP Sr in some interview? They asked Rubino about his thoughts towards the comments that NP Sr made towards his poor performance this season, and Rubino said "maybe he should be more concerned about his son's performance in GP2"....hahaha it was funny cause he was getting slaugthered by Nico, Heikki, and even Adam Caroll!

That said, I haven't heard much from NP Jr. France seems tobe kicking ass though. Premat didn't do that well in GP2, but he seems to be kicking ass in A1.

Yeah I remember that, I think that's also the time NP Sr. was talking about Rubens going to BAR was 100% true... and it was. lol.

I think NP Jr. is overrated... he's good but he talks about Senna all the time and how he wants to copy him. Meanwhile Nico and Heikki are in F1 already.

Senna's nephew is currently racing in the lower F3 series I think.

I'm excited to see how Nico does. He's pretty quick in testing, but that is testing so you never know.

my guess: he outshines Webber by a large margin!

Yeah, Bruno Senna is another one. I suppose that last name can get you places. Even though his name is really Bruno Lalli. lol

I hope Williams does well next year... and makes good use of Button's $30 million donation.

Wow this thread got hijacked. 😀
