Anyone hear read Tad Williams' "Otherland" series? Looking for similar books

I'm about halfway through the second book in the 4 part series and it just seems to keep getting better with every page. The last series that really drew me in was GRRM's "Fire and Ice" and while I don't think Williams is quite as good as Martin I have to admit that I'm really engrossed in his Otherland books. In fact at the pace I'm going I'll probably finish the last couple of books before the month is out.

So for you guys who've the Otherland series:

What's your thoughts on the books?
Is this series Tad's best work?
What other scifi have you read that's equal to or better than the Otherland series?
What scifi are you reading right now?
