No, Jeff Beck makes a guest appearance playing guitar on one track. I've heard about half the album and it's decent, but it's not the Yardbirds. Take away Mick and Keith and replace them with a new singer and guitarist and call the new band The Rolling Stones. The name might be the same, but the results sure are not. No Clapton, no Page, no Beck = no Yardbirds. This is just a really good Yardbirds cover band.

I realise he is not a permanent member. I meant he is back playing. I haven't heard much out of him since Stone Free.

Didn't one of the original members die?

Yep, Keith Relf electrocuted himself playing electric guitar while in the bathtub, one of the all-time great rock and roll deaths. That's the real problem, whether it was Clapton, Beck or Page on guitar, the Yardbirds sound was primarily Relf's vocals. They can get all the current rock Gods they want to do guest appearances on tracks, but without Relf they just can't recapture the Yardbirds of old. They sound good, but they sound too different. It's like Black Sabbath with Ozzy versus Black Sabbath with Ronnie James Dio. The names the same, the backup band is close to the same, but the sound is different. AC/DC was the only band to survive losing their lead singer without it significantly altering anything.

Edit: Ooops, I forgot about Van Halen. Changing from David Lee Roth to Sammy Hagar didn't alter anything for them either, they sucked either way.
