<< Kettering (formerly General Motors Institute or GMI) is an amazing engineering school. However, it is also pretty much only an engineering school. Also, it's in Flint, MI, where the most exciting thing to do is to study to become and engineer. I considered Kettering when I was looking at colleges (it was high on my list in fact) but I decided against it since effectively the only way to change majors was to transfer to a different college. It's a very good thing for me that I decided against Kettering as I am now an International Business Major. Basically, unless you are 100% certain that you will not change majors, don't go to Kettering. Kettering is an excellent school, but it's scope is severely limited.

Agreed. They WILL make you an intelligent engineer, and you WILL have no social life! They have one of the strictest educational programs I've ever heard of, along with a require 2 years of co-op, or something like that (don't hold me to that). Consequently, one of the most intelligent people I have ever met graduated from there. I'm not talking above average intelligence. He was an absolute genius. I worked with him for 5 months at my co-op, and he amazed me nearly every day. Made me feel really stupid, and I'm supposed to be near the top of my class! So anyway, Kettering is definitely worth considering.
