Anyone having issues with their iPhone 3G/3GS?

Last month I bought an iPhone and I can seriously and honestly say it has become my favorite electronic device. However, both 3G's Ive had gave me problems.

The first one while on vacation went (without provacation) to a white screen and when I turned it off I could hear the picture taking sound. After holding the home button down then the power etc I got it to come back. I thought this was only a fluke so I disregarded it. Back from vacation it happened again, but this time OS 3.0 was released so I said forget it, I'll just install that and when Friday gets here I'll get the 3GS. All goes well until the night before the launch. When I went to connect it to my computer it wouldn't recognize. Finally after some PC reboots I got it to see the phone, it restored, kinda. The only two screens I could see from that point forward was the Apple and connect iTunes.

So the next day I exchange it for the same 3G (GS models were not in stock). I get home and the first thing I do is install OS 3.0, then Synced with iTunes. Now for some reason when calling numbers that require you to "press 1 for English" it sometimes will show nothing but a black screen and I have to turn it off and back on in hopes that the next call I make will show the screen when needed.

I'm done with the 3G, this one is going back on the 24th for a GS. Anyone else have issues with your iPhone?

I've personally never experienced any of the issues you noted on any of the iPhones i've used. I found some odd somewhere bugs here and there, but none occurred frequently nor lasted beyond a reboot.

The second issue sounds like a problem with the proximity sensor. I'm assuming the screen isn't coming back on when you pull your head away.

I've had none of your issues, but I returned my 3G twice before I finally got a good one. Hopefully my 3GS treats me well.

Well after updating my 2G and 3G to 3.0 software some of my 'notes' just bring me straight back to the main screen again...rubbish but at least the majority of it works.

for my dads 3GS, the backlight will sometimes just go out when i turn the phone on. If i then turn it on again, the backlight comes back. its very random, but ive had this issue happen to me with my 2G ipod touch as well.

ill be getting mine tomorrow! i cant wait!

I've had mine freeze occasionally. Mostly happens downloading large files from the App Store. It would also cut in and out when I first got it but it turns out the guy at the store had set it up wrong. Just required a network reset.
