This was taken yesterday (Christmas eve), about noon time, from outside my apartment door.
Now that might not seem bad for someone up north, but this is central north Texas, about 2 hours drive north of the Dallas-Ft Worth area......where they have no idea what a snow plow or snow shovel is!
Unofficial numbers last night were 6 to 7 inches of snow in this area. Only getting up to 30F today, so very little melting will occur (if any), and what does will freeze again come night time, when the temps will be back down in the teens again. Definitely going to be a white Christmas here!
The bad part is that they have no way to remove it from the roads, short of just waiting for it to melt. There was a pretty bad accident, involving big rigs, on the highway about 15 miles out of town. They had no way to get any tow trucks out there, or anything else big enough to clear the wrecks from the highway, and TONS of people stuck behind the accident, with no way to go forward, backward, or any-ward else!
Of course, the fun part is watching the people with absolutely NO IDEA of how to drive in this stuff. To an imported yankee like myself, it's fun to watch!
