Situation.

1)Was owner before of a sony 36" wega KV36FS120 tube television.Content of analog and Digital cable on it was Excellent.Analog was( always been) grainy a bit, but the Digital cable was flawless.

2)Sold that television to get the Hitachi 46f510 46" widescreen rear projection.I really like HDTV,and watching dvd's on it...but when looking at analog and digital cable, its like really crap. And with my luck, as always, i just notice a little burn-in.So im pissed because my television look like crap, and i got a little burn-in.Honestly, i kinda regret getting this 46" inc television, and want a tube tv back if i can sell my current 46"

3)Rather than getting the same television (KV36FS120 ).I saw a television that really interest me because 1)its a tube, and 2) its HD enable. This model is KV32HS420 32 inc wega Hi-scan from sony(its a 4:3 like the 120 model). But before i buy it, i wanna make sure of one thing:

Will the picture quality of my ANALOG and DIGITAL cable will look the same( or better) as it was on my old KV36FS120 or i should expect crappy analog/digital result like my rear hitachi 46 " ?

Thanks in advance if you can help 🙂

Tube TV's seem to handle analog better...but IMO the best analog pic is still on analog TV's. ::shrug::

But tubes tend to be smaller which help when viewing analog content(and non-hd).

My mom has the tube TV to end all tube TVs, the 34XBR960. Analog looks pretty good on it - certainly not distractingly bad - but not quite as good as on a good analog TV. On the bright side, it has an OTA digital tuner, so she gets about 15 digital channels free, and they look amazing.

cOOltks for info Donvito.Help a bit.

Now i need to find someone who have a 4:3( i forgot to specify that, cause the tv i want is a 4:3)

agreed.
my dad has the 40 " XBR, 4:3 tube, awesome picture.

i have the 30xs955, ota hd, built in tuner.

i love sony tubes and regular tv.

Wow ok big surprise today.I went to thebrick and saw, side by side, the 2 television ( the non HD and HD model) with, digital sattelite hook up on them.

And i saw what i wanted to see:The PQ on the HD ready on digital signal was looking worst than the non HD tv.

Tks all for your help.

I don't really think it is the type of HD tv that makes analog look better or worse, it is the analog tuner and converter circuitry that makes the difference. I have a 32" Zenith CRT HDTV and the analog looks a lot better than I have seen on other TVs. This TV had a pretty good tuner for its time. It seems that most analog TVs do look better for analog though. Just like a TV card in your computer, it never looks as good as an analog TV.

I got a big deal anyway on the sony 32"

$699 + taxes + tv stand ( canadien currency)

This tv support 480i,which look very nice still with xbox games

I think most HDTV today dont come with a Analog tuner (im surprise that you have a television that have a analog tuner )

Its no big deal anyway.I would have to spend twice as much for an HD ready tv anyway.

I have a 34 inch Sony widescreen HDTV (tube) and the picture quality is amazing on both DVD/VHS/and regular cable if that's any help.

Yeah it look very good on those HDTV, but there is a difference with a true analog television.

I saw it with my eye today and was shocked a bit to see the same "squares, blockiness" on the sony HDTV tube 4:3 like i was having on my rear CRT 46 inc hitachi. It was WAYYY better than my rear projection television, but was not as perfect like it is on regular analog television.

Watching a baseball, football game on a rear projection television, when the content is nto in HD, is just horrible to see.

Honestly, i should have never sold my old trinitron 7 month ago,

HD era is present, but imo, is not ready to take the place of all old analog/digital content .By buying an HD television, i had to sacrifice my old analog/digital stuff, old systems( snes, dreamcast), etc etc.
