ok. here is my weird goal: to be able to control a one player game with 2 controllers. in other words, 2 controllers that are both player 1.

i had originally thought about splicing cables to accomplish this, but there are electrical concerns and its more effort

then someone suggested i should just get two wireless controllers and put them on the same channel/frequency (example: both controllers on channel 1, one receiver plugged into the player 1 port set to channel 1)

well my decision is basically between Logitech and Pelican. i prefer Logitech cuz i think they make higher quality , longer lasting stuff, even though more expensive

so the question is this:

is it possible to put both controllers on the same channel/frequency so that they are in essence the same player?

on the Pelican predator there is a switch in the middle that lets you choose 1, 2, 3, or 4 as a channel. if you put both controllers on channel 1 then are they both player 1 or does each controller have a unique "id"?

on the logitech controllers i dont know if there is any such switch, but i dont think there is. this may make my decision for me. i think the logitech controllers, being of a higher caliber, dont have any manual channel choice. i think they automatically choose a channel to make sure they arent interfering with other logitech controllers. so alas, logitech's automated ingenuity may force me to buy pelican. can anyone confirm what the logitech controllers are capable of?

also, anyone know anything about the upcoming new wireless logitech controllers for ps2? http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/productlist/US/EN,crid=96 note the new one that is cheaper, blacker, smaller (more like normal ps2 controllers), lighter, longer range, longer battery life, and referred to as "second generation"

and finally, does anyone have 2 Pelican controls or 2 Logitech controls and can tell me exactly what happens if you put them both on the same frequency? can two people both control player 1?

thanks :)

Logitech wireless controllers: $40 each at costco.com
Pelican wireless controller: $50 for a 2-pack at costco B&M. Pelican is easier on the wallet :)

I got the pelican 2-pack from costco a while back. Never tried them both on the same channel. In fact, I've never even used the second. They are ok, nothing that great though. The biggest problem is they have an awkward layout for the shoulder buttons. Instead of using buttons like on the normal ps2 controllers, the R2/L2 buttons are more like triggers. It makes it more difficult to use in games that require you to quickly change from L1 to L2 for example, you have to move from a trigger to a regular shoulder button, which you can't do extremely quickly since they are further apart and different designs. That 1 simple fact means I usually never use them unless I'm sitting too far away that corded controllers can't reach, so they basically are gathering dust.

I'll try testing both out on the same channel later tonight.

I tried it out and they don't work well when both are on at the same time. It's like they continue to send info that no keys/directions are being pressed for a short time span after you use a controller. So if controller A hits the X button then does nothing, it takes a few seconds until it will register that controller B hits the X button. Also, it never liked it if I held down a button, it would act as if I was just hitting the button repeatedly instead of holding it down. So no, they don't work well together. Plus now that I tried using them again, they feel cheap has hell. The one I never used before requires you to push too hard on the buttons for them to register.
