Girl doesn't want to add a cable modem to her landlord's account, I'm wondering if she can just sign up for DSL w/o a phone line. She doesn't need one, she has a cellie.
 
yes you need a telephone for DSL.

There are broadband modems for cellphones... but they are not DSL...
they are dialup speed, and you need a dialup ISP.
 
I thought I read somewhere that Verizon is doing away with needing a phone line for DSL?
Or maybe I've just been up too long without sleep.

that's true, but it's not available. just a way for them to hold off vonage.
