Anyone Have TV Tuner Card or Video Card w Tuner?

I am considering both options for my computer and would like feed back from anyone already using either.

Compatibility issues, what are you using for reception (cable, satellite, antenna)?

Generally, how is it working?

Cable, works fine. 10-15% of the channels have severely reduced image quality though, compaired to normal TV.

I have an ATI TV-Wonder for a while now. I like it since I switch videocards a lot.
Don't really had any problem.

Bistud666, may I ask what type of tv tuner are you using?

Jgtdragon, similar question. Is your Ati TV Wonder an internal card or the USB option? How is the picture quality for you?

Thank you both for replying. ; )

Nothing like exprience of others to help a decision like this.

I have a Leadtek Winfast TV2000 XP Deluxe, and I'm mostly satisfied with it. I'm seeing the same situation as BioStud however, so I have a Hauppage WinTV 250 w/BeyondTV on order to replace it with. The Winfast is a good introductory card, but for serious recording, it would seem that a card like the 250 is better suited.

Hauppage 250 PVR, Hardware Encoding, Hardware Delinearing and Beyond-TV. I use the Best Quality setting for a perfect picture.

i have the leadtek

i chose it over the 9800 Pro AIW because i want to keep the tuner when i upgrade my video card

some channels are not as clean as my TV but it does well overall

I have an ATI TV Wonder VE, works great with cable, channels past about 50 get a little fuzzy, thats the only problem I've had. All I do is watch tv and record Seinfeld episodes and it works fine for recording.

antenna, been using the same wintv fm dbx's for years now over several pc upgrades. antenna, hooked to roof.

going to get an hdtv card next, b4 they start putting the no record protection in em 2005. hdtv cards are down to 200, and so pretty🙂

Thanks everyone!

Not sure what brand I want yet, but I definately want a tv tuner. Seperate from video card, either USB or internal.

I'l have great fun researching the hardare you all have mentioned here. ; )

...I'll have to make a decision shortly with the '05' restrictions coming.

Same here, works great. I just need more hard-drive space when trying to vidcap 14hours straight 😉
I use WinTV2000 BTW.

Similar experience here. I use a cheap avermedia tuner with dscaler, but works pretty good for the money.

I use 2 PVR250s and SageTV1.4 trial. I don't notice any significant difference from cable when using the high settings. Works great, but no overlay on TVOUT. Apparently its addressed in Beta 2.

I use a Macro Image Technology MDP-120 hdtv card with DVI daughter board. Also have a Dvico Fusion 3. Both are excellent cards, the MDP-120 is hardware based and the Fusion is a software based card. I've had Leadtek and Hauppage cards also and the MDP-120 is without a doubt the best I've used.
