I used to, and nothing would work. However, I recently started listening to audiobooks and it has been putting me right out.

Only problem is the ones with 20 minute long chapters are a pain to skip to the next night.

Any surefire ways you get put to sleep?

i used to have a lot of trouble with this. i basically had to stay out of my bed except for sleep/sex (that was the doctors advice).

i would read and that would help...i would try not to think about sleeping and just kind of hope for the best.
you could, of course, take some pills. Tylenol PM (anything with the diphi would work) but that might work too well for you and i understand not wanting to do that.

Ive tried to go to sleep before 3am for the past week, but even if I get into bed at 12am, I still fall asleep at around 3am. It sucks the hard one

All the time! It's funny because I feel like I should be able to come in, sit down and go right to sleep, but every time I do my boss walks by and I have to quick pretend to be working. It sucks!! :|

Computers linked to poor health

I wouldn't be surprised if virtually every member has some trouble falling asleep :)

Newly published results suggests that performing an exciting video display terminal task fitted with a bright display suppresses the nocturnal changes in melatonin concentration and other elements of our biological clocks. In other words, playing an exciting video game at night with a bright display backlight might just be the physiological cause of a poor night's sleep.

You may be getting too much sleep. Not everyone needs 8 hours per night. I sleep from 2:00-7:30, and I have no problem falling asleep when I go to bed at 2:00.

Take a warm shower an hour before you're ready to go to sleep. The drop in body temperature is one of the body's triggers to go to sleep.

Regular exercise also helps a lot.

Nope, no trouble. I can fall asleep any where at any time.

Of course, the fact I have narcolepsy may have something to do with it.

I've gone 48 hours without being able to sleep.

Sometimes I stay up from 6am to 7pm of the next day. For example, I woke up at 7am Sunday and did not feel tired until Monday at 6pm.

I can fall sleep easily but if I'm woken up midway through, it takes about an hour. Probably because I get so angry, my blood starts racing...

i used to have the same problem. (i still do sometimes) but i realized what helps out for me is drinking a tall glass of milk about and hour before i want to go to help, that usually helps a good amount

When I have trouble sleeping, my wife just does some things to make me happy... then I go right to sleep. :D

usually I don't have much trouble, but I do get a few nights a year where I'm just wide awake. Can't sleep at all. No apparent reason that I can think of, and that seems to happen randomly. Now, last night I had a little trouble, but that was for a good reason. I got some rather bad news last evening, which is something I really don't want to go into here.
