The latest Security Update for XP is KB912919, covers:

Size: 196 KB - 710 KB

A remote code execution security issue has been identified in the Graphics Rendering Engine that could allow an attacker to remotely compromise your Windows-based system and gain control over it. You can help protect your computer by installing this update from Microsoft. After you install this item, you may have to restart your computer.

More information for this update can be found at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=58471

I installed it and rebooted. For some reason my computer was stuck at the WinXp boot screen, so i restarted and tried again. No luck, so i booted from last good configuration and it booted to windows normally. I rebooted again and my pc just hung at the same screen. I went back into windows after loading last good config and uninstalled the update and everything is back up and running fine. Anyone else ran into this problem?

Same problem. Loaded the update, and Windows hung at splash screen on reboot. And yes, legit Windows....Pro SP2. Had to go to Last Known Good.

FWIW so far I've installed it on two laptops, one with XP Pro SP2, the other with MCE SP2. No issues on either. Also installed it on a total of five desktops, three w/ XP Pro SP2 and one w/ MCE SP2. Again, no issues. And, a couple of these were systems (including two of my own) that had been previously patched with the "Ilfak" WMF patch.
