I remember a while back there was a news story about the highest resolution pictures taken of earth. Does anyone know where I can find those. I remember having it at one point. They were about 300-600 megs each. I think there were 2 pictures. Thanks

i have them on my comp... 400 megs and 260 megs... gimme a place to send? i'm not hosting that image, ut-austin would totally notice a bandwidth spike =P

I have them on CD. the ones you speak of

i actually cant open the biggers one in PS it just crashed my comp

I just opened that 40 meg one that was linked to. That's a pretty impressive photo.

Would anyone happen to know where I could possibly have these printed, poster size?
How big could the 16384 x 8192 one possibly be, without being pixelated?

You could make a poster of approximately 54 by 27 inches in size, at 300 dpi. In reality, you'd probably only need 200dpi (maybe less) unless you're going to be looking at it up close with a high-quality loupe, so 81x40 is a reasonable expectation.

Edit: Just saw your other question... You could get a large (84x48in) LightJet print made for about $135 from a place like A&I (no association or relation other than being a satisfied customer of their film processing services).

I have the 250 and 400MB images burned on CD. Took my old 800P3 with 768MB RAM at least 5 minutes to open. Most impressive pictures, though.

I found a poster of this at a poster sale on campus.

It's got the whole map and there's a title that says Earth by Night
