if so, how quiet is it?

it's cheaper than a WD SE but comes with a 3 yr warrenty, anyone have any horror stories or reccomendations?

I have six SP1614N drives in my server setup in RAID. These are PATA, but the SATA drives should use the same mechanics. New Samsung hard drives are very, very quiet. They use FDB bearings and have some of the quietest seek I have (or, really haven't) heard.

Reliability with Samsung hard drives has been extremely good. I've been working in the PC channel for years and hardly ever see a bad one, even though there are plenty of them installed and running on my various customer sites.

Performance is very good on the Spinpoint drives as well.
