I have a customer's system on the bench - wouldn't detect the drives, gets a physical memory dump, etc in Win2k and won't finish booting to the desktop. A7V133/1.4 athlon (not o/c'd), hedgehog HS/F, 512b infineon, yada, yadda. I get him a new board (Biostar M7VKD-Pro) and it won't boot @ 133 fsb - WTF!?!?!?! boots fine @ 100, but not at 133 like it's supposed to. I flash to the latest BIOS and no improvement. Any ideas? - I thought the old board developed a bad IDE controller, but this board isn't booting up at default even after a *good* flash. Could it be the CPU is weakened even from running @ default status for 6 months? I'm all ears at this point 😕

Well there are more components in the data path than the mobo. I would try different RAM or processor at this point. If it still doesn't change anything, try a different powersupply.

Also try booting without the hard drive installed, if your suspecting it of being faulty. (Don't see how it would care about 100 or 133 though since the bus is still at spec both ways though, but you could rule it out if it still doesn't post at 133).

Good luck man.

I had a A7V and the promise controller went bad on it. It also took me way too long to figure it out too. 😉 It was funny because I could get 98 to install and run but had lots of errors and 2000 wouldn't install at all.

I hope you figure it out

Have you tried getting a chipset HSF for it? The manual for it recommends getting a HSF for the northbridge chip if you are running a CPU higher than 1.2Ghz on it.

Linky to the manual for it. manual
