Saw a late night ad for the Ionic Breeze Quadra by Sharper Image. Looks like a pretty sleek unit, no filters to buy/replace because particulates stick to a metal grid instead. Does anyone have any experience with this system?

It's a worthless WAY OVERPRICED POS.

Really? A nurse I talked to swears by this machine, says it helped her mom (who has asthma) a great deal.

my dad installed a honeywell one in the basement, mounts onto the furnace intake, or is it outtake...

errrmmm.. i'll let him worry about it

dunno if it works though

I would get a true HEPA filter should cost you $99 - $249.

CostCo has a nice HEPA room air purifier with remote for $99.

If you do some digging and research online, you'll find out that the Ionic Breeze is a horrible device that does next to nothing, and in some cases, actually does more harm than good.

radio shack has a similar one and man, that metal "filter" gets extremely dirty in just a few days.. The people there swear by it.

Unless if comes with dirt pre-installed, how could it do any harm? 😕

All ionizers emit quantities of ozone. Ozone = very bad for you.
