I have the MCSA.
I spent $18k (and still paying for it) at computertraining.com to get it too. :|

I have MCSA and MCSE. Just read the exam prep books for each exam, worked with a test Windows environment at home and took the practice tests from transcender.

MCSE, did not use any Microsoft specific materials. Everything was third party.

Good luck.

thats about all the further i'll get in with this job. there is no room for advancement. its just me and my boss in a small company.

i rarely even use any of the knowledge i learned back then (about 3-4 years ago is when i got my cert) and i didn't use any of it for about 2 years.

That is true, I manage to get my work place to pay for the two weeks training @ $8k and got my MCSA&MCSE. These certificates are useless now since Microsoft has a whole new line of certifications.

OP: Might want to check out the new certifications that Microsoft offers.

Time for a new job? Our company is looking for a Systems engineer that is strong in VMware and SAN.
