Anyone have the ASUS P5K-E?

What are your thoughts on it? Looks to have the best combo of OC ability, features, quality, and reviews of any mobo for around $140 (Newegg).

Back in June, many reviews noted that Asus' higher end P35 models (including P5K-E) were drawing 20-35W more than other brands and running hotter for no good reason. I believe Asus has since corrected the flaw but haven't seen any source confirm it.

Anyone else know of this issue and if it has been resolved? I was going to get the Abit IP35 (not -e or pro), but it got mixed reviews on Newegg, so found the Asus P5K-E for a similar price, but it got much better reviews and has better options.

I have the P5K-E with WiFi, and the only issue I had was installing the SATA drivers. Finally got them installed and working. I have not updated the BIOS and probably won't for a while since it's working just fine with 0703 version of the bios. What is really strange is this version of the bios is not on their web site as a download.

Also, I am NOT running in a RAID setup. Most of the issues I've been reading are to do with the RAID setup on this board.

I have this board the one without wifi. Very nice with the CPU reporting 35C - 40C temps. It came with BIOS 0703. DO NOT UPDATE IT. I trashed my first one with BIOS 0901. 0806 was not much better and temps reported were 50C!

If I was to build another system and not going with ECC memory it would be a toss up between these two:

Asus P5K-E
SuperMicro C2SBE

The SuperMicro does not do raid or firewire but an add-on card would do easliy. The BIOS writers for this company don't release trash...

I've had my P5K-E Wifi for four days. Everything is good, except it did not wake up from Vista's "sleep" mode this morning. The fans, lights, and hard drives turned on, but nothing happened. I hit reset and it started right up...

This is a known issue. I bought the board anyway. Normally it starts up just fine.

Edit: It booted up fine today (the next day). In total, the failed boot accounts for only 1 out of about 10 boots.

Asus P5K-E v1.02g
Intel Core2Quad Q6600
Samsung 2x1GB DDR2 667 (temporary)
Radeon X1950 XT 256MB
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS
Western Digital 74GB Raptor
Samsung 500GB HD501LJ SATA II
NEC 3520A 16x DVD+/-RW
Corsair 520W PSU

I'm also deciding between this board and the Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3P (see my thread).

Most people seem to recommend the P5K-E.

The only concerns I have with this board are with the generic firewire controller and the USB issues some people are reporting.

What if I need support for the new Penryn processors? Then will I need to update BIOS to 0906?

I started a thread on this board a few days ago. So far I have not have any issues other than the Vdroop but then which P35 board doe snot have it. I did not do a fresh install (moved from a GA-DS3L_ easily.
Running a E6750 at 3760 (470 X 8). I would like to test the wattage on this board if I knew how to do so.
Sound is very good and the wifi feature works better than my DLink wireless card - better connectiivity.
Now in my 4th day of ownership. Uisng bios 0906 and other than vdroop pretty stable (I have to set to 1.5125 vcore to get 1.40)
