Anyone have the 24x TDK burner?

I just bought mine today to replace my 4x. Weird thing is, it takes 10+ mins to burn a cd.

mines only takes 4-5 min

I think it's cuz I'm burning data off my hard drive which is connected to the same IDE channel.

hm odd, is dma on? are your cd's really 24x compatible? i just got a 24x liteon and have found that i can copy at 24x while playing dvds from the same ide channel. are you running ata 66? ata 100?

DMA is on, and I got 24x compatible cd's..
I ran Nero tests and it clocks it at 8x write.. WEIRD
My hard drive is ata 100

BTW I'm running Win2k

I looked at tdk's website to look for updates for XP, and they are advertising for a 32x burner but its not yet for sale.

i too am having the same problem, albeit with a plextor 12/10/32A
it takes like 15 mins to burn a cd...wtf?

I have the TDK 24x ide drive also. I'm running Win2K SP2. When I first got it to replace my Plextor 8x, I noticed the same problem that you are having. It would take the same amount of time to burn a cd as my 8x did. I updated Nero and Ez-CD to the latest versions and it speeded it up quite a bit. Burning CD w/ Burn Proof on now take about 5-6 mins.
