im wondering how good coverage is in our area, both for data and voice. is this a location where you can get voice and 3g everywhere? my verizon contract expired a few months ago and im thinking about getting sprint because theyre cheap and have wimax but im reluctant to sign a contract without knowing how coverage, esp for data, would be in san francisco and contra costa (danville, sr, walnut creek). when sprint roams on verizon its only voice right (so i woulnt necessarily get the 3g coverage im getting now with verizon?)?

Been on Sprint for 10yrs in the bay area -

no issues with coverage.

Sure there are dead spots - but rare to be in a giant dead one with no service.

Its been a while, but I've had good coverage in Green Bay for a Packers game. Granted this was a few years ago, but I'm sure its still good. So I think you'll be fine.

is that just for voice or data also. do you get 3g most places or does it drop down when you arent in the middle of a city

Had it.
Was amazing and didn't want to leave. PERFECT reception.

Wish they had the iPhone when it came out.

I travel to the Bay area several times a year, from San Jose to Sausalito to Oakland. Have always had really solid 3G connection with my laptop and Sprint C-777 connection card. The phone works too.

Have a Sprint and AT&T line.

Sprint works fine everywhere I have been. AT&T barely holds signal in my house in couple of rooms at the back Also, while driving through a rural route, Sprint works fine but AT&T drops signal.

Have HTC Touch Pro 2 on Sprint and iPhone4 on AT&T.
